The 2-Minute Content Audit

Most creators overthink their content.

Not because they're dramatic (well... sometimes), but because they forget one simple truth: Your audience doesn't need more from you — they need clearer from you.

Here's a two-minute exercise I use when my content feels cluttered or I'm stuck on what to post next. Pull up your last 3-5 pieces of content — posts, newsletters, videos, whatever you've published recently.

Ask yourself three questions:

1. What was the point of this piece? If you can't say it in one sentence, your audience couldn't either.

2. Did I make the path obvious? What did you want them to do or feel? Learn something? Think differently? Laugh? Click? If the point isn't leading somewhere clear, the content collapses.

3. Does this sound like me, or someone I follow? This one stings, but it's where breakthroughs happen. The more you sound like yourself, the sharper your work becomes.

That's it. Two minutes.

After doing this a few times, you'll spot patterns — what works, what's fluff, what's authentically you. Once you recognize the patterns, you can create with greater intention and less stress.

Today's challenge: Before you hit publish on your next piece, run it through the 2-Minute Audit. You'll be amazed how much better your work feels when you can explain it to yourself first.

Your voice gets clearer. Your ideas get sharper. Your execution will be faster.

I’m a Latino dad, storyteller, and digital creator based in Utah—trying to balance 🎥, familia 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧, creativity, and a lifelong hunt for the perfect 🌮. Around here, I share the little chispas that keep me going: creator tips, behind-the-scenes from my projects, lessons from dad-life, and honest thoughts on trying to build cool things without losing myself in the grind. If you’re a creator, a business owner, or just someone who loves learning from another human figuring it out in real time… bienvenido. Grab a taco and hang out.

Throughout the year, I’m often asked the same questions: “I’m thinking about getting a camera—what do you recommend?” or “I need a new laptop—what Mac do you suggest?” I secretly love these questions. It means friends think of me when they need help, and I don’t take that lightly. But my answer usually starts with a paradox. Like many creatives, I often say gear doesn’t matter. Platforms like TikTok and the rise of UGC have proven that a smartphone can generate just as many views—and just as...

Today Supergirl’s trailer was released. Marcel my co-host for Reel Chums and I reacted to it. In it Kara says the line “He(Superman) sees the good in everyone. I see the truth.” I loved hearing this line. In life I’m Superman and Sadie is Kara. I love that I see opportunity, good, and hope in life. But between you and me it’s been very difficult to see the good, and the hope in the world right now. I have to remind myself that there is hope. I can do good to family, friends, coworkers, and to...

Let's Tacobout it! I got caught up with some work things yesterday that I didn't get to share my taco review for the week. This week I had Los Fabulosos Tacos. This family-run restaurant is located on State Street in Orem, and the owners are from Guadalajara, Mexico. One of my favorite cities I've visited. Los Fabulosos is a fantastic place to get tacos and other Mexican food if you like going BIG. Their fabuloso taco is famous for being a large taco with both birria and pastor, cheese,...
